About This Site
This site is a simple 1v1 polling game to find out which President is deemed most attractive when compared to all the other US Presidents. It's mostly for fun, but also for science.
How does it work?
Clicking on a President's portrait submits a vote to the system. The system records the win and loss data and calculates the new Elo for each contestant.
What is Elo?
Elo is a rating system used for board games, video games, and sport games. Players gain or lose points relative to their opponents status. This means a good looking contestant will gain more points when winning against another good looking contestant and less points if they win against an ugly contestant.
What are you planning to do with this data?
... Yes, we're planning to someday have collated a lot of data. Not really sure what we'll do at that point. Possibly nothing.
I don't know this face, who is this person?
The list of presidents and their portraits are taken from the Wikipedia page. All portraits and photos are listed as public domain. Yes these men were all US Presidents. If you'd like to learn more about the Presidents of the United States of America we'd recommend starting on the List of presidents of the United States page on Wikipedia.
Why can't I see the president's name when voting?
We don't show the contestant's name because users are supposed to vote based entirely off the President's appearance. Including the name, political party, or other data could influence the voters decision.
I accidentally clicked the ugly one how do I undo?
Mistakes happen. There is no undo. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We're confident if the President's mother was voting she would have chosen her child. Besides, sometimes the only winning move is not to play.
Both these people are ugly.
Yeah, we know. If neither candidate is "attractive" choose the one who you'd rather been seen in public with or failing all else the one who looks less likely to mug you in a dark alley.
